SPPHA NSW is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organisation formed in 1993 to promote the Standardbred as a successful and versatile horse that can excel in many disciplines beyond its traditional harness racing role. The group’s principal activity is a highly successful adoption program which has provided a new life for hundreds of horses. SPPHA NSW is self-funded through events such as a trivia night, donations, merchandise sales, memberships and adoption fees. SPPHA NSW is staffed exclusively by volunteers, located in all areas across the State. In addition to Standardbred promotion and adoption, the group strives to provide support and services for its members.
